Half Day Navigation Course at Keswick Climbing Wall

The mountains and fells of the of the United Kingdom are becoming more and more popular every  year and as such Mountain Rescue call outs are at an all-time high.

Every year thousands of people end up calling for help because they are lost and/or tired. A lot of these call outs would have been completely avoidable if they were adequately prepared for the mountains and fells.

Know where you’re going…

Carry the correct map/chart and compass and know how to use them. Nowadays paper maps may seem unnecessary but they are light to carry and their batteries don’t run out of charge!

We can show you how to use your map and compass, covering basic map and compass skills.

Think about gear

You don’t need the latest high tech, high performance, painfully expensive jacket to be prepared for your adventure. The trick is putting a little bit of thought into what conditions you might meet and packing a bag with just enough to ensure you can cope with whatever the day may bring.

We will advise you how to pack a rucksack with all the correct equipment for your day on the hills.

Can you get help?

Although most adventures into the mountains are incident free, would you have the knowledge to summon help if an emergency occurs? Do you know what to do?

We will give you the confidence to know what to do in an emergency situation, and how to summon help.
